#927 ArixMed in a long-term care emergency
Life Saved by ArixMed #927
We recently received a powerful “Saved a Life” report from an LPN in Clarksburg, WV, USA, who purchased the ArixMed choking rescue device on June 5th, 2023.
On November 14th, 2025, she was caring for a 67-year-old male in long-term care – wheelchair-bound, non-verbal, cognitively impaired, very frail and extremely congested, unable to cough up mucus. During her shift, his lips started to turn blue.
They followed their protocol and used traditional maneuvers first (Heimlich / back blows), but the obstruction was thick mucus, not food, and was hard to clear. Then they reached for ArixMed as an additional tool. With the patient tilted in his wheelchair, ArixMed was applied three times, helping to suction mucus from both the nasal and oral cavity. His color began to improve.
We’re grateful this caregiver chose to share her experience with us. For frail, high-risk patients, having one more option in an airway emergency can make a real difference.
This is a real customer story, not medical advice. ArixMed does not replace the Heimlich maneuver, CPR or local emergency protocols. Always follow your professional training and local guidelines. Keeping the ArixMed anti-choking device handy creates an extra layer of protection for frail, high-risk patients.
